Introducing Blue Cap Apps
Today we're launching Blue Cap Apps — a small company building practical SaaS tools for the teams that have outgrown their workarounds but don't need an enterprise platform.
We're a small software company, and we exist to serve a specific kind of business: one that has outgrown spreadsheets and workarounds, but doesn't need — or want — the overhead of enterprise software.
That gap is bigger than it looks.
The problem we're solving
Most business software either assumes you're a solopreneur or assumes you have an IT department. There isn't much built for the space in between: the 10-person team that needs real visibility into their operations, the business owner who's tired of manually reconciling tabs, the manager who finds out about problems from customers instead of their own systems.
That's who we're building for.
The pattern we see over and over: a business that started scrappy and smart is now maintaining a fragile web of workarounds. The spreadsheet only one person really understands. The shared inbox that's become a black hole. The custom process that works until someone's on vacation. These aren't failures - they're the natural result of moving fast with the tools at hand. But there comes a point where those tools start costing more than they're saving.
We want to build the bridge.
What we're building
Our goal is to build tools that are simple to use and honest about what they do. Powerful where it matters, quiet everywhere else. No cluttered dashboards, no features you have to dig through to find the ones you actually need. Just a clean, straightforward interface that makes the process clear and gets out of your way.
We've spent the last several years running software businesses and services companies. The problems we're tackling are ones we've lived with firsthand. That shapes what we build and how we price it: practical, honest, and without the upsell games.
Our first product: Down Control
The first product we're shipping is Down Control — uptime, server, and SSL monitoring that actually tells you what's wrong and what to do about it.
We built Down Control because we were tired of cobbling together free tiers from four different monitoring services to get basic coverage. We wanted something that monitors uptime, checks SSL expiry, reports server health metrics, and surfaces issues clearly — all in one dashboard.
Down Control starts at $9.99/month and includes a 14-day free trial. Take a look.
What's next
Our second product, Flex BPM, is in active development. It's focused on business process management — orders, invoices, inventory, event/scheduling workflows, and more. We'll share additional details on that soon.
We're not trying to build the next unicorn. We're trying to build software that solves real problems, charges a fair price, and earns the trust of the people using it. That's the whole plan.
If that sounds like something your team could use, we'd love to hear from you. Get in touch or keep an eye on the blog — we'll be sharing more as things move forward.
